Cowgirls have a hard time against #14 St. Edwards

Box Score Austin, TX- New Mexico Highlands Women's soccer team fell to #14 St. Edwards University 5-0 today in Austin, TX. Your Cowgirls fall to a 0-1 overall record and 0-0 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

1st half

St. Edward's came out firing at Freshman Goalkeeper Makenna Luster. Within 15 minutes, Luster had two saves.  That did not stop the Hilltoppers from attacking and within 28 minutes of play Freshman Forward Toni Tewes crossed it to Freshman Midfielder India Wentz, who kicked it right into the net, giving the Hilltoppers the lead.

2nd Half

Right off the bat, St. Edward's Senior Forward Jennifer Boudreau passed the ball to teammate Junior Midfielder Whytneigh Duffie and with one touch from the left she gets her first goal of the 2016 season. Your Cowgirls struggled to get the ball in the back of the net against the Hilltoppers defensive. Makenne Luster With eight minutes left in the game Junior Forward Emily Ortiz got Highlands their first shot on goal of the game, but St. Edward's Freshman Goalie Annabel Sweeney got the save.

Final Score: 5-0 St. Edwards
