The New Mexico Highlands University Women's Team fell to the Colorado Christian University Cougars by a score of 52-83. Your Cowgirls drop to 2-14 overall and 1-12 RMAC.
First Quarter: The two team came out battling as the score raced out to 6-6. Freshmen
Juliana Gurule was good from behind the 3 point line and Senior
Jacinda Woodruff hit a shot early for the Cowgirls. After this however, the Cowgirls would have a have time finding the basket as they would finish the quarter with 8 points.
Second Quarter: Junior
Mele Tupouata got the quarter started for the Cowgirls with a jumper. Then, Gurule hit another triple for her team, bringing the score to 13-24. Junior
Kaelin Shaffer would score 4 of the next 6 points for her team. The Cowgirls ended the quarter with another 3 by Gurule, which cut into their deficit, 25-43.
Third Quarter: Shaffer came out and nailed a jumper as soon as the 2
nd half started. Woodruff converted on an and one opportunity to bring the score to 36-55. The Cowgirls struggled to get some points on the board after this as their next bucket was by Woodruff once again, to end to quarter.
Fourth Quarter: Gurule hit a jumper to get the Cowgirls going early in the 4
th. They were able to find the basket with more ease in the fourth as Sophomore
Ida Valencia and Shaffer each hit a jumper. Woodruff would hit a triple to bring the score to 49-74. Shaffer would nail another 3, but there would not be enough time to mount a comeback.
Final Score: Cowgirls-52 Cougars-83
