Rapid City, SD- The New Mexico Highlands University Women's Basketball team fell to South Dakota School of Mines and Technology Hardrockers by a score of 46-71. Your Cowgirls drop to 2-10 overall and 1-8 RMAC.

First Quarter: The Cowgirls opened up the game on fire as five different players got on the scoreboard. Freshman
Ari Baca hit a layup with four minutes left in the quarter to bring the score to 11-12, Hardrockers. However, Mines answered back with 8 unanswered points, including two 3's, to give them the 20-11 lead at the break.

Second Quarter: Sophomore
Kaylani Maiava broke the ice for the Cowgirls as she hit an early layup, but the Hardrockers shot back with a 10-0 run to bring the score to 30-13. Finally, Baca was able to halt the run for a moment as she nailed a 3 of her own. The Cowgirls could not find much more on the offensive end of the court as they went into halftime trailing, 19-38.

Third Quarter: Junior
Kaelin Shaffer scored the first points of the second half as she hit a jumper to cut into their deficit. The Hardrockers sprinted out to a 15-0 run that spanned almost five minutes. Finally, Freshman
Juliana Gurule was able to hit a 3 to stop the run. Sophomore
Ida Valencia was also able to bang home a 3, then Maiava finished the quarter strong for the Cowgirls as she scored two straight baskets.

Fourth Quarter: The Hardrockers opened up the quarter on an 8-0 run, holding the Cowgirls scoreless until Shaffer could sink a jumper. They picked up their play in the final five minutes, but they could not climb back from the hole they had dug early.
