Las Vegas, NM- The New Mexico Highlands University Women's basketball team fell short tonight as they lost to the Adams State University Grizzlies. The Cowgirls fall to a 2-18 overall record and 1-16 RMAC record.

First Quarter:
The Grizzlies came out with the first two buckets, but with a trey from
Ida Valencia the Cowgirls were on the board. Both teams went back and forth. As the Grizzlies started to get a lead by five, Junior
Mele Tupouata made back to back lay-ups to bring the game to three.
Second Quarter:
As the second quarter began,
Kaylani Maiava got herself to the free throw line and knocked them both down to bring the Cowgirls within one. The Grizzlies answered back with a lay-up, but that did not stop Senior
Jacinda Woodruff as she hit a three to get the Cowgirls their first lead of the night (21-19). The Cowgirls went on a 8-0 run to bring them up by 7. The Grizzlies battled back, but your Cowgirls went into halftime up by 5 (35-30).
Third Quarter:
The Cowgirls got the first bucket of the quarter with a lay-up from Ariana Baca, but then the Grizzlies went on a 7-0 run. Both teams battled it out, but Adams State went into the fourth quarter up by one.

Fourth Quarter:
That did not stop the Cowgirls as Valencia hit another trey to give the Cowgirls the lead again. With only 3:44 left in the game, the score was tied (67-67). The Grizzlies found their way to the free throw line and knocked both down. Then Maiava answered from behind the arc to bring to Cowgirls up by one. Unfortunately, the Grizzlies took the win with them as the Cowgirls fell by two.
