Cowgirls Cannot Get Past No. 3 Thunderwolves

Pueblo, Co- The New Mexico Highlands Women's Basketball Team fell to No. 3 Colorado State University- Pueblo 69-45 in tonight's (Feb 7) conference play.
 
In the first quarter, the Cowgirls got the first points up on the board by Freshman Juliana Gurule. The Thunderwolves went on a 7-0 run to gain the lead. With less than two minutes left, Sophomore Ida Valencia hit a trey to get the Cowgirls within seven.
 
Going into the second quarter down by eight, the Cowgirls came out hot as Freshman Arianna Baca hit a jumper and Senior Jacinda Woodruff knocked down a trey to get them within three. The Thunderwolves answered back with three straight treys to give them a lead by 12. The Cowgirls tried to battle back but went into half time down by 13.
 
The Cowgirls struggled in the third quarter as they only scored seven points to the Thunderwolves twenty. They went into the last quarter down by 26 points.
 
The Cowgirls battled to shorten the lead but the Thunderwolves continue to be undefeated.
 
The Cowgirls hit the road to Salt Lake City, Utah as they face Westminster College (Utah) on Feb. 11 at 5:30 pm
