Pueblo, CO- The New Mexico Highlands University Baseball team defeated the Adams State University Grizzlies by a score of 21-10. Your Cowboys are now 11-21 overall and 7-12 RMAC.

Senior
Easton Garcia got the game going with a leadoff single. Senior
Brad Blackwell also hit a single to put two runners on base with no outs. Junior
James Cordova came up to the plate and grounded out to first base, but he allowed Garcia to score. Junior pitcher
Dakota Pacheco started the day on the mound. The Grizzlies were able to sneak a run across in the bottom of the first, tying the game a 1-1 after one inning.

Sophomore
Joseph Cilladi was the first Cowboy to reach base in the top of the second as he hit a single to left. Blackwell came up with a big time double that scored Cilladi before the side was retired. Adams State scored an unearned run in the bottom of the inning, knotting the game up once more at 2-2.

After a scoreless third inning, McCarty hit a singled and picked up the RBI as Garcia scored in the top of the fourth. Cordova came through as well as he smacked a two RBI double, scoring McCarty and Junior
Luis Ornelas. The Grizzlies were only able to make up a small amount of ground as they scored one run in the bottom of the inning.

Sophomore
Travis Spruiell opened up the fifth inning with a double. He would not be on the bases long as Junior
Codie Simmons crushed a triple to right field, scoring Spruiell. Cilladi tapped a single to right that allowed Simmons to score. Blackwell continued his solid game as he hit a two RBI double that scored Garcia and Cilladi. McCarty kept the rally alive as he brought Blackwell home with a single up the middle. Cordova crushed a two run homer later in the inning, bringing McCarty home with him. With the bases loaded, McCarty looked to cap off the rally and he did just that as he smacked a grand slam homer. The Cowboys erupted for a total of 14 runs in the top of the fifth.

McCarty picked up yet another RBI in the top of the seventh as he brought Cilladi home. The Grizzlies continued to fight back as they scored 3 runs in the bottom of the seventh, bringing the score to 20-8.

The Grizzlies would score two more runs in the bottom of the ninth, but they could not mount a comeback as they Cowboys cruised to a 21-10 victory.

 The Cowboys will take the field again tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. against the Colorado State University-Pueblo Thunder Wolves.
