Cowgirls Corralled in RMAC Action

Volleyball falls twice in weekend matches

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Las Vegas, NM - For the New Mexico Highlands women's volleyball team it was a tale of two matches as they opened conference play at home over the weekend.

After giving nationally ranked Colorado School of Mines all they could handle on Friday night, the Cowgirls dropped a 3-0 match to Colorado Christian on Saturday to start the season 0-2 in conference play.

The Cowgirls opened Homecoming weekend on fire taking down the #20 Orediggers 25-20 in the opening set and racing out to a lead in the second before dropping a tough 26-24  set two. Mines would take the next two sets to win the match

The Cowgirls were led by Brianna Montano with 18 kills for the match while Shayli Schulz  dished out 32 assists. The Cowgirls also ran up nine aces to just two for Mines.

Saturday night saw the HU ladies drop three straight sets to Colorado Christian in quick fashion. The visitors had taken a 3-0 match versus CSU-Pueblo on Friday and may be the early season surprise in the RMAC.

The Cowgirls take on Eastern New Mexico  at home Tuesday, Sept 19 at 6pm in a non conference match-up.
