Las Vegas, NM - The New Mexico Highlands University football team will play its third home game of the season when it takes on the CSU-Pueblo Thunderwolves at noon this Saturday (Sept. 23) at the West Las Vegas football complex.
The 'Pokes are coming off a big 42-7 homecoming victory over Texas Wesleyan and are undefeated in two tries at their temporary home field having downed RMAC foe Dixie State in a thrilling 23-22 season opener. This week's match-up will be a real test for the new Cowboy coaches and players as CSU comes into the game ranked among the top twenty in the nation among DII football programs. The Thunderwolves were picked as the RMAC preseason favorites.
The Cowboys are 2-1 this season and 1-1 in RMAC play. The offense is averaging 21.7 points and 333 yards per game while allowing 33 points and 430.7 yards per contest. RB
Dione Alston leads the rushing attack with 271 yards on 44 attempts and four touchdowns. He is averaging 90.3 yards per game and 6.2 yards per carry. The Cowboy defense has five takeaways (two INT, three fumble recoveries), The defense has three players with 20 or more tackles, led by
