Cowboys Set to Take on Colorado School of Mines

Las Vegas, N.M- Coming off a season-opening 23-22 win over RMAC opponent Dixie State, the New Mexico Highlands University Cowboys travel to Golden, Colorado for a match-up with Colorado School of Mines this Saturday (Sept. 9th). Game time is noon at Marv Kay Stadium.

CSM was picked third in the RMAC pre-season poll and ranked #16 in the country to open the 2017 season, but the Orediggers fell 38-7 to CSU-Pueblo (ranked #12 in DII) in their season debut.to drop out of the top 25.

Last season the Cowboys took a 54-14 wallop from the Orediggers, but the 2017 version of the Cowboys go into Golden with a host of new starters and the momentum of a big conference win. And, while new head coach Marty Fine termed last week's victory, "just another game", Cowboy fans are energized by the Cowboys play in the season opener.

CSM grabbed a share of the RMAC Championship in 2016 and made the NCAA DII playoffs. They return the preseason RMAC Offensive Player-of-the-Year in WR Brody Oliver who came up with nine catches for 142 yards in the Orediggers loss to CSU-Pueblo.

The Cowboys will counter with new starting QB Danny Cameron who threw for two touchdowns last week versus Dixie State as well as RB Dione Alston who came up with 141 yards of total offense and a defense that kept the Trailblazers out of the end zone for the final 20 minutes of last week's game.

Go Cowboys!
