LAS VEGAS, N.M. --- The New Mexico Highlands women's soccer team fell to Dixie State 5-1 on Friday at Sanchez Family Stadium.
The Cowgirls (1-11-1 overall, 1-8-1 RMAC fell behind 1-0 in the 9
th minute, but a minute later tied it up when
Anna Medina headed a ball in to make it 1-1.
However, the game didn't stay tied for long as in the 14
th minute Dixie State's Whitley Johnson scored to give the Trailblazers (9-5, 5-5) a 2-1 advantage they took into the half.
Dixie State then added goals in the 52
nd, 55
th and 60
th minutes to take a 5-1 lead that it held onto the rest of the match.
The Cowgirls were outshot by the Trailblazers 15-8, including 8-3 on shots on goal.
Breanna Fatten and
Anna Medina led the Cowgirls with two shots apiece.
NMHU hosts its senior day noon Sunday as the Cowgirls take on Westminster at Sanchez Family Stadium.
