Cowgirls wrap up 2018 on the road at Adams St., Fort Lewis

LAS VEGAS, N.M. --- The New Mexico Highlands women's soccer team looks to cap their season on a high note as the Cowgirls travel to take on Adams State on Thursday and Fort Lewis on Saturday.

THE COWGIRLS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS

The Cowgirls dropped both their games at home last weekend, falling to Dixie State 5-1 on Friday and Westminster 2-0 on Sunday - NMHU's senior day. The Cowgirls' goal during the weekend came on a header from Anna Medina.

On the season, Alondra Gildo-Ceballos and Nitza Rodriguez lead the Cowgirls with three goals apiece while Medina and Breanna Fatten have two apiece. Monique Nevarez and Tania Sacledo each have a team-best two assists. At keeper, Karina Vega got the start Sunday and has a 2.36 goals against average in 419 minutes while Briana Ruelas has played 867 minutes and has a 3.42 goals against average. 

ABOUT ADAMS STATE | SEASON STATS

The Grizzlies have dropped their last nine contests, last winning Sept. 16 against Black Hills State (a 5-1 victory). Adams State lost a pair of close contests last weekend, however, as the Grizzlies fell on the road at Colorado Mesa 1-0 on Friday and at Western Colorado 2-1 on Sunday.

Diana Cerillo has been the Grizzlies' most dangerous player as she is tied for the team lead in goals with five and leads the team with three assists. Breana Flores also has five goals while Natalie Wheelock has four. Corri Zaiger has played every minute this season at keeper for the Grizzlies (1,349 minutes) and has a goals against average of 2.93 and a 72.2 percent save percentage against 312 shots faced. 

ABOUT FORT LEWIS | SEASON STATS

The Skyhawks snapped a six-game losing streak last weekend as Fort Lewis went on the road and defeated Western State Colorado 1-0 on Friday and tied Colorado Mesa 1-1 on Sunday.


Three players have three goals apiece in Katie Smith, Renee Terrell and Britney Johnson while Emma Patron leads the team with four assists to go along with one goal. Britt Blomso has been the team's primary keeper and has a 1.32 goals against average and a save percentage of 73.7 percent in 1,026 minutes.
