Cowgirls can't snap Mines' win streak, fall to Orediggers

LAS VEGAS, N.M. --- The New Mexico Highlands volleyball team fell to 22nd-ranked Colorado School of Mines 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-17) on Friday night at Wilson Complex.

The Cowgirls (6-12, 4-6) couldn't snap the Orediggers' (16-2, 10-0) win streak – which now stands at 10 – as Mines controlled much of the match.

NMHU's best chance to snag a game from the Orediggers came in the third game as the Cowgirls trailed just 13-12 after a kill from Bayley Wills. But Mines went on 4-0 run and the Cowgirls wouldn't get within three points the rest of the game as the Orediggers clinched the set and the match.

Tiffany Matchett led the Cowgirls with seven kills while Camryn Nelson had five and Taley Ferrari, Cynthia Norris and Willis had four kills apiece. Samantha Sjogren had a team-high 10 assists while Soleil Gandara had nine. Elena Rivera finished with a team-best eight digs.

The Cowgirls return to action 6 p.m. Sunday as they host UC Colorado Springs at Wilson Complex.
