LAS VEGAS, N.M. ---Â The New Mexico Highlands volleyball team wraps up its season 1 p.m. Friday with Senior Day as the Cowgirls host CSU-Pueblo at Wilson Complex.
COWGIRLS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
The Cowgirls split a pair of home matches this past weekend, dropping a five setter to Adams State on Friday while sweeping Fort Lewis on Saturday. In the victory, the Cowgirls put together their second-best hitting game of the season with a .272 hitting percentage. Leading the way was senior
Cynthia Norris as she had 15 kills with only one error while fellow senior
Julie Staffler had 15 kills and three errors. Senior
Tiffany Matchett had 14 kills as well as the trio of Cowgirl seniors shined in their second-to-last game in the collegiate careers.
Celina Naranjo (27 assists) and
Samantha Sjogren (23 assists) split the setting duties in the victory while Matchett (17) and
Trinity Saiz (16) led the team in digs in the sweep of the Skyhawks.
On the season, Matchett leads the team in kills at 3.01 per set and is followed by fellow seniors Norris (2.33) and Staffler (2.18). Naranjo (5.3) and Sjogren (3.79) lead the teams in assists per set while
Taley Ferrari (0.65) and
Stacy Johnson (0.65) are tops on the team in blocks per set.
The Cowgirls defeated CSU-Pueblo on the road Sept. 11, 3-1.Â

Caitlin Broadwell leads the team in kills at 3.48 per set while Melissa Nichols is averaging 2.18 and Brooke Schilling is just under two kills per set at 1.99. CSU-Pueblo's primary setter is Elena Michalski as she's averaging 8.93 per set. Nichols leads the team in blocks at 0.77 per set.
