CANYON, Texas --- The New Mexico Highlands women's basketball team fell to host and seventh-ranked West Texas A&M 100-59 Friday afternoon during the first day of the Pak-A-Sak Thanksgiving Classic.

The Cowgirls (2-4) fell behind 8-0 to start the game and wouldn't get within six points of the Lady Buffs (5-0) the rest of the contest. Turnovers played a big part in the contest with NMHU committing 24 and WTAMU scoring 35 points off of those turnovers.

Jordyn Lewis led the Cowgirls with 17 points – connecting on three 3-pointers, while
Allyah George had a double-double with 15 points and 10 points to go along with three assists and two steals.
Kish Chandler had nine points (going 2-for-3 from 3-point range) while
DeAvion Allen had a team-best five assists to go along with six points and five rebounds.

The Cowgirls finished the game shooting 39.7 percent from the field and were 7-for-17 (41.2 percent) from 3-point range. The Lady Buffs shot 61.2 percent, including going 9-for-25 (36 percent) from 3-point range. WTAMU had four players reach double figures with Abby Spurgin leading the way with 1` points to go along with six rebounds in 23 minutes of action.

The Cowgirls continue play at the Pak-A-Sak Thanksgiving Classic 11 a.m. Saturday as they take on Eastern New Mexico. NMHU lost to the Greyhounds on the road earlier this season, 66-38.
