LAS VEGAS, N.M. --- The New Mexico Highlands volleyball team heads north up I-25 Tuesday as they take on CSU-Pueblo for a mid-week RMAC matchup.
LAST WEEK FOR THE COWGIRLS | SEASON STATS
The Cowgirls split on the road to open RMAC play this past weekend, sweeping Western State Colorado on the road (25-16, 25-20, 26-24) Friday while falling in four sets at Colorado Mesa (25-16, 21-25, 25-13, 25-18) on Saturday.
In the victory against the Mountaineers,
Tiffany Matchett paced NMHU with nine kills and 15 digs to go along with two aces and two blocks while
Julie Staffler had seven kills and
Cynthia Norris added six.
Celina Naranjo and
Samantha Sjogren each had 11 assists for the Cowgirls. In the loss to CMU, Matchett led NMHU with nine kills while Staffler, Norris and
Stacy Johnson had seven kills apiece. Naranjo led the team with 18 assists while
Elena Rivera had a match-high 21 digs (she's seventh in the conference at 4.64 digs per set).

The ThunderWolves, like the Cowgirls, opened RMAC play on the road with a split - losing in three at Colorado Mesa and sweeping Western State Colorado. CSU-Pueblo is led on the attack by Sarah Vang (2.95 kills per set), Brooke Schilling (2.38 - she also leads the team with 16 aces) and Mallorie Post (2.36). The ThunderWolves have a pair of setters they lean on in Grace Hern (7.3 assists per set) and Kelsey Bell (7.0) while Page Heller leads the team in digs (4.72 per set).
