Pueblo, CO --- The New Mexico Highlands Women's Soccer team (0-7, 0-5 RMAC) traveled to Pueblo, CO where they faced the ThunderWolves (3-5-1, 2-2-1 RMAC) of Colorado State – Pueblo on Sunday October 6
th.
The Thunder Wolves started the game on a strong note as CSUP Madison Jepperson found the back of the net in the 10
th minute of play. The ThunderWolves would eventually score 2 more goals right before the break and took a commanding 3-0 lead by half time.
Janis Martinez would lead the Cowgirls in shots taken in the half with 4, 1 of those being on goal and
Victoria Mares was also able to get a shot off for the Cowgirls. Keeper
Katherine Scott received the start for the Cowgirls as she allowed 3 goals and faced 8 shots with 4 on goal.
The Cowgirls defense would start the second half strong as they didn't allow CSU-Pueblo to score until the 68
th minute in the second half. Then, shortly after, the ThunderWolves would score their final goal of the match and win the game 5-0. The Cowgirls finished the game with 14 shots, 5 of them being on goal. Scott finished the game with 5 saves and faced 17 shots with 10 being on goal.
The Cowgirls will be back in action next weekend where they will host Regis at 1 pm on Friday October 11
th and Black Hills State at 11 am on Sunday October 13 at the City of Santa Fe Municipal Recreation Sports Complex in Santa Fe, NM.
