Volleyball drops two games on the road

Alamosa, CO --- The New Mexico Highlands Volleyball (1-24, 0-17 RMAC) team lost a pair of conference matches on the road against Fort Lewis on Friday and Adams State on Saturday.
 
AGAINST FORT LEWIS (10-16, 6-11 RMAC): The Cowgirls dominated in the first set, as they would win 25-22. And from that point on, the Skyhawks would take control and win three-straight sets to win the match in four (25-22, 25-16, 25-20).
 
Camryn Nelson led the way offensively with 14 kills and also recorded 12 digs. Bayley Willis (11 kills) and Taley Ferrari (10 kills) would also aid the Cowgirls attack. Celina Naranjo (2 aces, 11 digs) added a team high 25 assists and not far behind was Soleil Gandara with 24 assists. Defensively, libero Bryanna Lopez finished with 25 digs.
 
AGAINST ADAMS STATE (8-18, 5-12 RMAC): Again, the Cowgirls would start out hot in the first set as they would win 25-13, but the Grizzlies would take control and win the next two sets 25-9, 25-12.

In the fourth set, the Cowgirls would rally to score 8 straight points on the Grizzlies and would win the set 25-17. The Cowgirls would find themselves in the fifth set for the 4th time this season and would rally back-and-forth with the Grizzlies till the 9-9 mark where two kills and a service ace from the Grizzlies would seal the deal as they would go on to win the set 15-12.
 
Keegan Lopez would lead the team in kills with 9 as she also recorded 3 digs. Taley Ferrari (8 kills, 3 blocks, 5 digs), Camryn Nelson (8 kills, 5 digs), and Stacy Johnson (7 kills, 2 blocks, 2 digs) would also aid the Cowgirls attack. Bryanna Lopez finished with 17 digs and an ace.
 
The Cowgirls will be in action next weekend for their final game of the season as they take on CSU-Pueblo on the road at 7 pm on Friday night.
