PORTALES, N.M. --- The New Mexico Highlands softball team lost to Eastern New Mexico 28-7 in five innings on windy Monday afternoon at Greyhound Field.

The Cowgirls (0-4) scored three in the fourth and three in the fifth inning against the Greyhounds (4-4) on a day where wind gusts reached 50-plus mph, but it wasn't enough to avoid the run rule.

Victoria Reyes went 1-for-1 with two RBI while
Breanna Cabrera and
Leah Osborn each had an RBI.
The second game was canceled due to the high winds.

NMHU returns to Las Vegas to play its home opener 11 a.m. Sunday against Western New Mexico.
