LAS VEGAS, N.M. --- The New Mexico Highlands baseball dropped the series finale against No. 16 Dixie State 20-7 Sunday at Brandt Field as the teams split the four-game set.

The Trailblazers (20-6 overall, 10-2 RMAC) jumped out to a 10-0 lead after four innings before the Cowboys (9-15, 2-10) got on the board in the fifth.
Gaylan Young ripped an RBI double to right center before
Eloy Reyna homered for the second time in the series to make it 10-3 Trailblazers.

Dixie State answered with three runs in the top of the sixth to increase the lead back to 10 before another three-run inning by the Cowboys – highlighted by a two-run double by Reyna – cut the DSU lead back to seven at 13-6.

But the Trailblazers scored four more in the seventh and another three in the eighth before an error in the ninth led to the Cowboys' final run.

Reyna paced the Cowboys at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a homer, two doubles and four RBI. Young finished 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and two runs while
Travis Spruiell went 3-for-5.
Sergio Lucero picked up the loss for the Cowboys, going 1.2 innings and giving up six runs on five hits with a walk and a strikeout.

Next up for the Cowboys is a non-RMAC matchup at Lubbock Christian on Tuesday.
