LAKEWOOD, Colo. --- The New Mexico Highlands softball team ended its season with a pair of losses on Saturday at Lakewood Park, falling to Colorado Christian 10-0 and No. 11 Colorado Mesa 13-2.

In the second game against the RMAC champion Mavericks (42-7 overall, 35-4 RMAC), the Cowgirls (8-31, 7-24) fell behind 9-0 after two innings before
Brooklynn DeLozier hits a two-run homer to center field in what turned out to be the only hit for the Cowgirls in the game to cut the lead to 9-2. CMU scored four more runs in the bottom of the third to make it 13-2 – which turned out to be the final score in a run-rule shortened contest.

Breanna Velasquez picked up the loss for the Cowgirls, going 1.1 innings and giving up nine runs on five hits with a strikeout and four walks.

In the first game against CCU (35-14, 28-8), the Cougars scored three in the first, one in the second, four in the third and two in the fourth to force the run rule after five.
Desiree Madrid and
Haley Rodriguez each picked up a hit for the Cowgirls in the contest while
Desiree Bogarin got the loss, going all four innings and giving up 10 runs on 12 hits with two strikeouts and a walk.
