ALAMOSA, Colo. --- The New Mexico Highlands baseball team capped its season on a high note as the Cowboys scored the most runs in a game since 2017 as NMHU defeated Adams State 20-6 on Saturday at ASU Baseball Field.

It's the most runs the Cowboys (19-31 overall, 12-24 RMAC) have scored in a game since beating Adams State 21-10 on April 7, 2017.

NMHU trailed the Grizzlies (9-41, 6-30) 2-0 heading into the fourth inning before scoring 20 runs over the next four frames – eight in the fourth, four in the fifth, one in the sixth and seven in the seventh – while Adams State scored four in the fourth to make the final 20-6.

Eleven Cowboys picked up hits in the contest – including six with multiple hits.
Gaylan Young went 4-for-6 with three RBI and three runs,
Auggie Francis went 3-for-5 with a triple, double, five RBI, three runs and two stolen bases to increase his average to an RMAC best .434,
Jared Brown went 2-for-6 with a home run, double and five RBI,
Garrett Hammer went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and three runs,
Joe Cilladi went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and three runs and
Justin DeHoog went 2-for-4 with two runs and a double.

Kaleb Whitlock got the start and went 3.2 innings while giving up six runs (five earned) on three hits with four strikeouts and six walks. The NMHU bullpen was stellar as
Sergio Lucero went 3.1 scoreless innings and gave up just one hit with two strikeouts while
Tyler Winkler pitched two scoreless innings and gave up just two hits with two strikeouts – with neither walking a batter.
