The Cowgirls (1-5, 0-0) fought hard against the #17 Rockhurst Hawks, but fell short as they lost in 3 sets (25-14, 26-6, 25-13). The Cowgirls finished the game with 21 kills and 37 digs. The Cowgirls seemed as if they couldn't get a rhythm going, in terms of hitting, as they ended the game with a kill percentage of .074.
Keegan Lopez led the team in kills for the Cowgirls with 6.
Taley Ferrari added 4 and
Stacy Johnson added 3. Senior
Celina Naranjo played well defensively with 9 digs and was also able to help her teammates with 8 assists for the Cowgirls.
The Cowgirls had their hands full with the University of Mary, where they battled with the Marauders for 4 sets. The Cowgirls found themselves behind early as they lost the first set 25-13. The second set went back and forth as both teams never got more than a 2 point lead throughout. A kill by
Keegan Lopez followed by a kill from
Anissa Hernandez found the Cowgirls up 23-21. The Cowgirls finished the second set 25-22. The hitting slump continued for the Cowgirls and they would find themselves down early in both the 3
rd and 4
th sets, losing the sets 5-13 and 25-18.
Anissa Hernandez had the best hitting percentage on the team at .429 and 4 kills.
Camryn Nelson would lead the team in kills with 6, followed by
Taley Ferrari (5 kills and 3 blocks) and
Keegan Lopez (5 kills and 3 blocks).
Bryanna Lopez and
Meranda Romero would lead the Cowgirls in digs with 14 and 13, respectively.
