Cowgirls drop 2 games to Regis, MSU-Denver over the weekend

Denver, CO --- The New Mexico Highlands softball team lost in walk-of fashion against Regis on Sunday morning in Denver, CO.

GAME 1 RECAP: The Cowgirls battled with the Rangers till the very last inning as the Cowgirls lost 5-3 on a 2-run walk-off homerun.
 
Regis scored the first run of the game in the 3rd inning after the bases were loaded and Regis C. Beard was hit by a pitch. The Cowgirls would take the lead in the 5th inning after Camrynn Ziegler brought in Victoria Mata and Brooklynn DeLozier with a single up the middles.
 
The Rangers would regain the lead in the 5th inning to take a 3-2 lead before Taylor Fish would tie the game with a sacrifice fly to center field in the 6th inning.
 
The Rangers would hold the Cowgirls in the top half of the 7th and would win the game off a walk-off homerun from Regis L. Scheffel to take a 5-3 win over the Cowgirls.
 
Brooklynn DeLozier led the Cowgirls as she went 2 for 3 on the day while Camrynn Ziegler went 1 for 3 with 2 RBI and a base on balls.
 
Belinda Gonzales pitched 5 innings while giving up 2 hits and 3 runs while recording 5 strikeouts while Tamia Tellowman pitched 1.1 inning and gave up 2 hits and 2 runs.
 
GAME 2 RECAP: The Roadrunners pitching seemed to be too much for the Cowgirls as NMHU was held scoreless with 1 hit, as they went on to beat the Cowgirls 11-0 in 5 innings.
 
Taylor Fish made the Cowgirls lone hit (single to center field) which came in the top of the second inning.
 
Megan Jesionowski pitched for the Cowgirls as she faced 29 batters while giving up 10 hits and 11 runs with 2 strikeouts.
 
The Cowgirls will be back in action next Saturday and Sunday as they travel to Durango, CO for a four-game series against Fort Lewis.
