Cowboys' Jones named RMAC Defensive Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. --- The New Mexico Highlands football team's defensive performance of forcing seven turnovers in a win against Adams State on Saturday was rewarded as defensive back Lebarron Jones was named the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

Jones racked up seven tackles (one for a loss) to go along with two interceptions and two pass breakups in the Cowboys' 58-28 win over the Grizzlies at Sanchez Family Stadium. Overall, the NMHU defense had six interceptions in the contest.

Jones is fourth on the team in tackles with 36 to go along with his first two interceptions of the year and four pass breakups.

It's the second time this season a Cowboy has won RMAC Defensive Player of the Week with Devin Coney achieving the honor on Oct. 18.

NMHU plays its final home game and RMAC contest of the season noon Saturday against South Dakota Mines. The Cowboys will also honor their seniors that day.
