LAS CRUCES, N.M. --- The New Mexico Highlands men's basketball team played strong in the first half, but fell to Division-I New Mexico State 94-67 in an exhibition Wednesday at the Pan American Center.
The Cowboys trailed the Aggies 37-34 at the half after holding NMSU to 3-for-19 shooting from 3-point range in the opening 20 minutes.
However, the Aggies got hot from beyond the arc in the second half - going 12-for-21 from 3-point range - to help them outscore NMHUÂ 57-33 in the second half.
Marcus Brown led four Cowboys in double figures with 14 points.
Ja' Vary Christmas had 13 points,
Andre Adams had 12 points and
Desmond Carpenter had 10 points, three steals and three assists.
The Cowboys struggled on the glass, being outrebounded 43-29, including allowing 18 offensive rebounds.
NMHU returns to action 7 p.m. Saturday as it hosts Northern New Mexico at Wilson Complex.
