CHADRON, Neb. --- The New Mexico Highlands men's basketball team had a double digit lead early in the second half, but fell in the final minute to Chadron State 61-57 on Sunday.
The game was tied 57-57 with 1:23 remaining after
Andre Adams drained a pair of free throws for the Cowboys (5-6, 0-5), but Chadron State (6-8, 2-4) answered with a layup with 56 seconds remaining to take the lead for good as NMHU turned the ball over and couldn't snag a rebound off a CSC miss in the final 20 seconds.
Adams and
Marcus Brown led NMHU with 14 points apiece with Adams grabbing eight rebounds while Brown had four assists.
The Cowboys are off until Dec. 31 when they host Westminster in Las Vegas.
