Cowboy wrestling falls in RMAC opener at #18 Colorado School of Mines

GOLDEN, Colo. --- The New Mexico Highlands wrestling team opened RMAC action Thursday night with a 39-6 loss at No. 18 Colorado School of Mines.

The highlight of the evening for the Cowboys came in Allen Michel defeating 12th-ranked Ryan Fidel, 3-2, at 174 pounds. Michel picked up a takedown in the opening period and led 2-1 after the first round and the wrestlers each had an escape the rest of the way and that was it for Michel to pick up the victory.

NMHU's other win on the night came from Thomas Tolbert defeating Jack Damenti 3-2 at 165 pounds. A takedown in the second period and an escape in the third gave Tolbert the win.

The Cowboys return to action 9 a.m. Saturday as they host the Doug Moses Home Open at Wilson Complex.
