Durango, CO --- The Cowgirls drop a heart-breaker in game two of the double-header as Fort Lewis completes the Friday night sweep.

Tamia Yellowman (Fr; Phoenix, AZ) scored the first run of the evening in the first game with a hard hit ground ball to the shortstop before
Camrynn Ziegler (Jr; El Paso, TX) blasted a grand-slam over the right-field fence to give the Cowgirls (5-21, 5-21 RMAC) an early 5-0 lead.

The Skyhawks (10-16, 10-12 RMAC) answered with five runs of their own in the top of the second before FLC pitcher Brianna Leavell gave the Skyhawks a 7-5 lead with a 2-run home run to center field.

The Skyhawks would go on to take game one 10-5.
Samantha Gamboa (Fr; Albuquerque, NM) led the team with three hits while Ziegler finished with two hits and 4 RBI and
Taylor Fish (Fr; Wildomar, CA) added a double.

Gamboa moves to 0-6 on the season after giving up nine runs off seven hits and two strikeouts as
Cassidy Munoz also stepped in the circle to give up a run of two hits.

The Skyhawks used a late-game home run in the bottom of the sixth inning from Kylie Hefley to take a 1-0 lead over the Cowgirls in game two. But, the Cowgirls didn't give up.

Ziegler started the seventh inning with a lead-off triple to right field and
Brooklynn DeLozier (Sr; Longmant, CO) scored her with a sacrifice fly to center field to tie the game.
Megan Gutierrez (Fr; Whitier, CA) then stepped in to smack a solo home run over center field to give the Cowgirls a 2-1 lead in the top of the seventh. Â Â

Nathalie Blattmann (So; Abbottsville, Canada) held the Skyhawks to a ground out to first base and a fly out to right field before McKenna Hefley stepped in to hit a walk-off grand slam as the Skyhawks finished the sweep with a 5-2 win in game two.

Ziegler and Gutierrez finished the game with three hits apiece to lead the Cowgirls as Gutierrez hit her second home run of the season. The Cowgirls out-hit the Skyhawks 11 to 6, however, failed to manufacturer runs by leaving ten runners on base.

Blattmann moves to 3-11 on the season after giving up five runs off six hits and three strikeouts.

The Cowgirls and the Skyhawks will finish the four-game series with a double-header scheduled to begin at 12 pm tomorrow afternoon.
