Las Vegas, NM --- The New Mexico Highlands baseball team puts up 30 total runs on the day to win both games of a double-header on Saturday afternoon against Adams State at Brandt Field.

The Cowboys started out slow as Adams State was able to jump out to a 6-2 lead after two and a half innings of pay before the Cowboys scored four runs in the bottom half of the fourth inning.

Jesus Chavez got on base with a double to left field before
Aidan McNichol stepped in to blast a home run over the right field fence.
Charles Morgan followed with a single up the middle as
Cobe Lehman moved Morgan to second with a single up the middle.

Back-to-back hits from
Estevan De La O and
Kalen Hammer scored two more for the Cowboys to tie the game at six before Adams State regained the lead in the top of the fourth inning scoring a run.

Trailing by a run going in to the bottom of the fifth, Lehman tied the game with a solo home run to right field before the Cowboys capitalized on a fielding error by ASU first basemen Matt Bathauer to take an 9-7 lead. The Cowboys then used six hits in the bottom of the sixth inning to score five insurance runs, to go on and take game two 14-7.

Estevan De la O finished the game batting a perfect five-for-five with three runs, three RBI and a double as
Cobe Lehman finished with four hits to his name, to go along with three runs and two RBI.
Gaylan Young and
Jesus Chavez tallied three hits each.

Brady Salyards, stepped in to relieve JT Mossberg, received the win for the Cowboys on the mound and now turns to 2-4 on the season after giving up two hits, zero runs, and two strikeouts.

The Cowboys started where they left off, jumping out to an early 3-1 lead in game three before exploding for eight runs off five hits in the bottom of the sixth inning.

The Grizzlies scored a run in the top of the third inning before the Cowboys scored five unanswered runs to go on and take game three 16-2.

Estevan De La O was a single away from hitting for the cycle after he registered back-to-back stand up triples, a home run, and a double to lead the Cowboys with four hits, four runs and four RBI while Hammer and Chavez added three hits each.

Angel Castillo threw a complete game for the Cowboys giving up two runs off six hits and a strikeout and now moves to 3-2 on the season.

The Cowboys and the Grizzlies will finish off the series tomorrow afternoon with a nine-game affair slated for a 1 pm start at Brandt Field.
