Lakewood, CO --- The New Mexico Highlands softball team dropped two road games to Colorado Christian for their final games of the 2021 season.
 
Game three was all Colorado Christian as the Cougars used eleven hits to score eleven runs in the bottom of the second inning to take an 11-0 lead.
 
The Cowgirls answered with three runs of their own in the top half of the fourth inning to cut the Cougar lead to eight runs as 
Megan Gutierrez (Fr; Whitier, CA) hit a lead-off triple and 
Taylor Fish (Fr; Wildomar, CA) followed with a homerun to make it 11-3 Cougars.
 
The Cougars kept the hits coming registering four runs off five hits to extend their led to 15-3 in the bottom half of the fourth inning.
 
Each team added a run in the fourth and fifth inning as the Cougars went on to take game three 16-4.
 
Carlee Gonzalez (Fr; Rocklin, CA) led the Cowgirls with three hits, two runs, and an RBI while Fish (3 RBI) and 
Raelyn Sanchez (Fr; Albuquerque, NM) each finished with two hits. 
Savannah Pineda Chavez moves to 0-4 on the season.
 
The Cowgirls came out strong in game four as 
Brooklynn DeLozier (Sr; Longmont, CO) hot a single to left field before Gutierrez hit a one-out two-run home run to give the Cowgirls an early 2-0 lead, however, the Cougars answered with two runs of their own to tie the game at two after one inning.
 
DeLozier and Gutierrez then rallied for back-to-back hits in the top of the third inning before Gonzalez stepped in to smack a two-out three-run homerun to give the Cowgirls a 5-2 lead but, again the Cougars answered in the bottom half of the inning, this time with four runs, to take a 6-5 lead over the Cowgirls.
 
The Cougars added two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to go on and win game four, 8-5.
 
Gutierrez led the Cowgirls with four hits, three RBI, and two runs while DeLozier registered two hits and two runs of her own.
 
Nathalie Blattmann (So; Abbottsville, Canada) pitched a complete game for the Cowgirls, moves to 6-15 on the season after giving up ten hits and registering two strikeouts.
 
The Cowgirls finish their season with an 8-32 overall and conference record as the Cougars secure the three seed in the conference tournament.
