LAS VEGAS, N.M. --- The New Mexico Highlands women's basketball team kept it close in the first half, but fell short to CSU Pueblo 80-59 on Friday at Wilson Complex.
The Cowgirls (3-10 overall, 0-7 RMAC) trailed the ThunderWolves (11-3, 7-1) 41-39 at the half and were down 47-45 with 5:40 left in the third before CSU Pueblo went on a 12-4 run to end the quarter to lead 59-49 heading into the fourth quarter. The ThunderWolves outscored NMHU 21-10 in the fourth to pull away.
Maiah Rivas paced the Cowgirls with 16 points, six rebounds, six assists and two steals.
Jordyn Lewis,
Desiree Forster and
Awreona Ransom had eight points apiece while
Sana'a Baker had seven points, six blocks and five rebounds.
NMHU looks to bounce back Saturday as it hosts Adams State 5 p.m. at Wilson Complex.
