LAS VEGAS, N.M. --- The New Mexico Highlands women's basketball team went 10-for-18 from 3-point range and outscored Colorado Christian each quarter to defeat the Cougars 76-55 Friday night at Wilson Complex.
Four Cowgirls (4-11 overall, 1-8 RMAC) finished in double figures with
Maiah Rivas and
Awreona Ransom leading the way with 16 poits apiece. Rivas finisehd 6-for-8 from the field, including 3-for-3 from 3-point range) to go along with four steals. Ransom finished 5-for-7 from the field - 2-for-2 from 3-point range - to go alongwith four rebounds.
Sana'a Baker had 13 points, six rebounds, four assists and four blocked shots while
Jordyn Lewis had 10 points and five rebounds - giving her 996 career points.
To go along with shooting well from 3-point range, the Cowgirls went 18-for-20 from the free throw line. On the other side, NMHU held Colorado Christian (5-10, 2-7) to 29.6 percent shooting from the field (including 4-for-21 from 3-point range) while the Cougars shot 9-for-16 from the free throw line.
The Cowgirls return to action 5 p.m. Saturday in Las Vegas as they host MSU Denver.
