Cowgirls Fall in Conference Matchup Amid Offensive Struggles.

Las Vegas, NM Cowgirls fall in first of two before the New Year

12.30.22 At John A. Wilson Complex
Friday evening was an odd one for the Cowgirls as they took on a Conference opponent in their first game back from Holiday Break. What is usually a strength for The Cowgirls became a weakness. They shot 22% from deep and 28% from the field which is uncharacteristic for The Cowgirls. Early on, having to adjust to not having their starting point guard in the lineup made it difficult for players to find open shots. The Cowgirls began to find their groove after falling behind 15-4 in the first quarter. However, the lowest scoring first quarter of the season was too hard to overcome. It is not too often that a game calls for a moral victory, but this could be one. The Cowgirls came into this game averaging 67 points per conference matchup. During those matchups they averaged 7 three pointers a game, while shooting at a 35% rate from deep compared to the 22% on Friday evening. Shall the Cowgirls get back to their identities, then there is guaranteed to be a better turnout in the future.
