Las Vegas, NM-- Cowboys shooting struggles
12.31.22 At John A.Wilson---Saturday night the Cowboys got off to a slow start while Colorado Mesa started on fire. The Mavericks hit on 59% of their shots in the first half and never took their foot off the gas pedal. The problem for the Cowboys offensively was never execution. The Cowboys were getting open looks but struggled to hit their shots and crash the boards. This happened to be the story much the night. The Cowboys went into the half facing an 18 point deficit and only shooting 28% from the field and 27% from deep. Coming out of the second half the Cowboys made a great run at Mesa by almost cutting the lead to single digits, getting it as low as 13. Mesa then responded by stretching the lead to as far as 33. The Cowboys were dominated by Mesa on the boards 44-16. A 44-16 rebounding deficit makes it almost impossible to win a basketball game. The Cowboys will face Mesa again in Colorado on February 17th.Â
Starting for 2023--Â
