Cowboys Battle Undefeated Fort Lewis to the Very End

Las Vegas, NM – The New Mexico Highlands Men's Basketball started a two game home stand against the undefeated Skyhawks of Fort Lewis College on Friday night at the John A. Wilson Complex. 
The Cowboys were able to keep it close in the first half cutting into what was a 13 point Skyhawk lead to only 3 at the half.

The Cowboys took the lead in the 2nd half on an Eric Sonnenberg three with 16:45 remaining. It was a back and forth affair from there with both teams exchanging baskets until the 6:25 mark where the Skyhawks extended the lead to 10 on a breakaway dunk after a steal on a made 3. The Skyhawks maintained that lead until the Cowboys cut it to 5 with 1:05 remaining. The Sky Hawks were able to close out with free throws and the game finished 83-74.
