LAS VEGAS, N.M. --- The New Mexico Highlands men's basketball team looks to bounce back from having its eight-game winning streak snapped and stay in the No. 8 and final spot for the RMAC Tournament when the Cowboys travel to take on UCCS 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

COWBOYS HEADING INTO THE WEEK | 2021-22 STATISTICS
The win streak for the Cowboys was moved to eight Friday with an 89-68 victory at MSU Denver before NMHU stumbled Saturday at Colorado Christian, 76-64.

The split on the weekend puts the Cowboys at 9-11 in RMAC play, tied with Westminster for the No. 8 spot - but NMHU owns the head-to-head tiebreaker. It's also one game ahead of Adams State and CSU Pueblo and 1.5 games back of MSU Denver for the No. 7 spot.

The formula is simple for NMHU - win and it is in the postseason tournament. Lose and it will need some help.

Sammy Barnes-Thompkins leads the team in scoring (19.5 - fifth in the RMAC) and assists (3.2) while also averaging 4.3 rebounds and 1.2 steals. Desmond Carpenter is averaging 15.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.6 steals (first in the RMAC). Marcus Brown is averaging 13.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.5 steals while Andre Adams is averaging 11.1 points and a team-best 6.8 rebounds and 1.1 blocks.

UCCS HEADING INTO THE WEEK | 2021-22 STATISTICS
The Cougars have won four in a row after going on the road to beat Colorado Christian in overtime 95-90 Friday and MSU Denver 79-70 on Saturday.

Alijah Comithier earned RMAC Offensive and Defensive Player of the week honors after averaging 37.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game - including a career-high 46 points and 15 rebounds at CCU (which included draining a 3-pointer at the buzzer to force overtime). He's averaging 21 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. The only other player averaging double figures is Jon'll Fugett at 13.1 points per game to go along with 3.3 assists and 1.5 steals - both team highs for the Cougars.
