LAS VEGAS, N.M. --- The New Mexico Highlands softball team dropped a pair of games to Colorado Mesa, 10-0 and 8-0, Saturday at NMHU Softball Field.
The Cowgirls (7-25, 5-17) dropped the first game 10-0 after the Mavericks (27-5, 19-1) scored three in the third, four in the fourth and three more in the fifth.
Samantha Gamboa and
Dioni Lincoln had the two hits for NMHU.
Nathalie Blattmann got the loss, giving up six runs on nine hits with a strikeout and two walks in 3.2 innings.
In the second game, CMU scored five in the third and three in the sixth to come away with the win. NMHU had five hits in the game, all singles by five different players.
Arianna Ramirez picked up teh loss, going the distance and giving up eight runs on nine hits with three strikeouts and two walks.
NMHU and CMU play another doubleheader in Las Vegas on Sunday.
