Gunnison, Colorado - Nationally ranked Western Colorado defeated New Mexico Highlands 62-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Cowboys are 2-6 overall and 1-5 in RMAC play after the loss. Western Colorado, ranked 12th in the most recent American Football Coaches Association Division II poll, improves to 8-8 overall and 7-0 in the RMAC.
The Cowboys were unable to get on track Saturday as they were out-gained 467-131 by the Mountaineers. NMHU also turned the ball over four times while forcing only one Western Colorado interception.
Shawntay Mills, Jr led the Cowboys offensively with 61 yards rushing on 15 carries.
Teneil Nichols hauled in three passes for 52 yards.

Devin Coney once again led the Cowboys with eight tackles on Saturday.
Gannon Ginnis recorded his second takeaway in as many weeks when he intercepted a Mountaineer pass midway through the opening quarter.
The Cowboys host Chadron State College next Saturday afternoon. Kick-off at Sanchez Family Stadium is scheduled for 12:00 pm.
