Las Vegas, New Mexico - New Mexico Highlands and Black Hills State battled to a 2-2 draw Friday afternoon at Sanchez Family Stadium. The Cowgirls are 0-7-2 overall and 0-4-1 in the RMAC after this afternoon's action.
Kaylee Castaño got the day's scoring started 23 minutes into the match scoring on an assist from
Mia Ortiz. Black Hills State would respond late in the half to dead-lock the score at 1-1.
Kaitlyn Novak put the Cowgirls back out in front, scoring off an assist from Isa Glenn at the 76:11 mark. That lead would hold until the Yellow Jackets tallied the equalizer some eight minutes later, tying the score at 2-2.
Peyton Greener turned away a pair of BHSU shots in the waning moments to secure the draw for the Cowgirls.
For the afternoon, Greener recorded seven saves.
NMHU will host Regis University on Sunday afternoon in a 1:00 pm match at Sanchez Family Field. The Rangers defeated Adams State 3-0 Friday in Alamosa. Tickets for Sunday's match can be purchased at
