Portales, New Mexico - The New Mexico Highlands Cowgirls dropped a heart breaking 70-64 decision to Eastern New Mexico in overtime Saturday afternoon in Portales. The game was part of the 2023 South Central Region Crossover at ENMU's Greyhound Arena.
The Cowgirls trailed 31-20 at the halftime break but outscored ENMU 40-29 in the second two quarters to force overtime. NMHU scored the first points of OT on a layup by
Delani Harris but could not hold off the host Greyhounds the rest of the way.
The Cowgirls shot a blistering 62.5% (10 for 16) in the third quarter and 58.3% (7 for 12) in the fourth quarter. NMHU out rebounded Eastern New Mexico 37-34 in the game.
Juliana Aragon led the Cowgirls with 20 points on Saturday.
Neysa Munguia (12 points),
Delani Harris (10), and
Maiah Rivas (10) all scored in double figures.
Aja Scott grabbed nine rebounds for NMHU.
