Golden, Colorado - The New Mexico Highlands football team traveled to Golden, Colorado, on Saturday afternoon and dropped a 77-3 decision to the Colorado School of Mines, the Number One ranked team in NCAA Division II. NMHU is now 2-8 overall and 1-7 in the RMAC while the Orediggers improve to 10-0 and 8-0 in the conference.
The Cowboys were outgained in the contest 634 to 126 yards and lost the turnover battle 3-0.
NMHU's leading rusher was
Shawntay Mills Jr. who gained 63 yards on 22 carries.
Devin Coney and
Demond Young led the Cowboys with 13 and nine tackles respectively.
The lone score of the afternoon for the Cowboys came by way of a 35 yard field goal from Will McDaniel as the third quarter wound down.
