The Cowboys and Roadrunners Exchanged Runs

The New Mexico Highlands Cowboys and the Metropolitan State University of Denver Roadrunners faced off in an exciting baseball game Thursday afternoon. Despite putting up a good fight, the Cowboys fell short, losing 16 to 9 to the Roadrunners.

The game got off to a fast start, with both teams scoring at will in the first inning. The Cowboys led 7-6 after 1. However, the Roadrunners managed to break through again  in the second inning, scoring four runs off of Cowboys' relief pitcher Hunter VanCurler.

The Cowboys responded in the bottom of the fourth inning, and sixth inning, scoring in each. However, the Roadrunners continued to put pressure on the Cowboys, scoring in every inning except for the 5th and the 9th.

The Cowboys fought hard to get back into the game, scoring four runs in the bottom of the seventh and eighth  inning to bring the score to 20-12. However, the Roadrunners' advantage was too great to overcome.

Despite the loss, there were some standout performances for the Cowboys. Outfielder Cobe Lehman had a strong game at the plate, going 3 for 4 with a pair of home runs and five RBIs.

The Cowboys will look to bounce back from this loss in their next game, where they will face off against the Metro again tomorrow in double header action.
