Cowgirls Battle UNM In Exhibition Match

The New Mexico Highlands volleyball team traveled to Albuquerque Saturday afternoon to scrimmage the University of New Mexico Lobos in The Pit.

UNM, picked to finish fourth in the Mountain West Conference in 2023, provided NMHU Head Coach Tom Duke a good opportunity to gauge his young squad's progress as they prepare to open the regular season in two weeks.  The two teams played four sets with the young Cowgirls gaining valuable experience against talented Lobos.

"It was a great learning experience for our five freshman who play in the rotations," said Coach Duke.  "We played like a young team with talent.  Dynamic at times and rough at times."

The Cowgirls now set their sights on the 2023 regular season opener against Ouachita Baptist University on September 1st at the Texas A&M - Kingsville Classic in Kingsville, Texas.

There are 11 home matches on the 2023 Cowgirl Volleyball schedule and fans are encouraged to purchase season tickets to secure a seat for all the exciting action.
