Box Score 2 The New Mexico Highlands University Volleyball team concluded play this afternoon at the Texas A&M-Kingsville Invitational dropping a pair of matches. The Cowgirls concluded the weekend with a 1-3 record, losing to the host to Javelinas 3-0 before falling to Tiffin University (OH) in the second match on Saturday evening.
"The team played up and down all weekend," said Head Coach
Tom Duke. "We showed flashes of high level execution and had a few periods of major struggle."
Freshman
Seraiah Morgan was named to the All-Tournament Team. On the weekend, Morgan posted 33 kills, 2 service aces, and 32 digs.
Reflecting on the opening weekend of play, Duke said, "We are a brand new team with new players. Trying to teach a new system to a team that returns just two starters. We are using four talented freshmen from New Mexico in our starting rotation."
The Cowgirls have just a couple of days to regroup as they play their 2023 Home Opener on Tuesday afternoon by hosting Angelo State University. Match time is set for 3:00 pm. Tickets for the match can be purchased
