Las Vegas, New Mexico - Nationally ranked Colorado School of Mines used a strong second half to hand New Mexico Highlands a 69-60 setback on Saturday evening. The loss makes the Cowboys record 7-8 overall and 4-6 in the RMAC. The Orediggers, ranked 23rd in the latest NABC Division II poll, are now 14-3 overall and 9-1 in conference play.
The Cowboys led the entire opening half and went to the halftime break with a 34-30 lead over the Orediggers. The visitors, however, took their first lead of the night at the 17:55 mark of the second half and outscored NMHU 39-26 in the second twenty minutes of action enroute to the victory on Saturday.
Kenard Richardson scored 13 points and grabbed seven off the bench to lead the Cowboys on Saturday.
AC Curry and
Tyler Rodgers added nine points apiece.
The Cowboys return to action this Tuesday when they play at CSU-Pueblo. Game time is set for 7:30 pm.
