Gunnison, Colorado - Western Colorado defeated the Cowgirls 65-56 Saturday afternoon in Gunnison. The loss drops NMHU to 4-14 overall and 3-9 in the RMAC. The Mountaineers improve to 4-12 overall and 1-9 in conference play.
Sophomore
Juliana Aragon led the Cowgirls with 16 points.
Delani Harris adde 11 points and a team high eight rebounds and four steals in the loss.
The Cowgirls jumped out to an early five point lead at the 7:37 mark of the opening quarter on a three point basket by
Delani Harris. Western Colorado then outscored NMHU 21-7 to close out the first quarter and take a 21-12 lead. The Cowgirls bounced back in the second quarter and came within one at halftime 32-31. The Mountaineers outscored NMHU 33-25 in the second half enroute to their final margin of victory.
The Cowgirls are off until next Friday when they travel to South Dakota to play Black Hills State. Tip-off is set for 5:00 pm.
