Cowgirls Win In Salt Lake City On Friday

Salt Lake City, Utah - The New Mexico Highlands women's basketball team snapped a five game losing skid with a 59-69 win over Westminster on Friday evening. The Cowgirls are now 4-9 overall and 3-4 in the RMAC. Westminster falls to 2-12 overall and 0-6 in conference play.

The Cowgirls used a strong defensive effort, holding Westminster to 49 points which is the third fewest points allowed by the NMHU this season. They forced 15 Westminster turnovers and converted 15 points off turnovers in the game.

Juliana Aragon scored a game high 17 points and added three assists to pace the Cowgirls on Friday. Maiah Rivas was also in double figures as she scored 13 points in the win. Neysa Munguia grabbed nine rebounds to lead NMHU.

As a team the Cowgirls were 24-61 from the floor and a perfect six for six from the free throw line on Friday. Westminster won the battle of the boards 41-33.

The Cowgirls are in Grand Junction on Saturday for a 5:30 pm contest with Colorado Mesa.
