Grand Junction, Colorado - Less than twenty-four hours after capturing a double-digit win in Salt lake City on Friday night over Westminster, the New Mexico Highlands women's basketball team took the court in Grand Junction for a match-up with a tough Colorado Mesa team on Saturday. Unfortunately for the Cowgirls, they could not get the back-to-back win as they fell to the Mavericks 70-34.
The Cowgirls fall to 4-9 overall and 3-5 in the RMACÂ with the loss while Colorado Mesa improves to 11-3 and 5-2 in conference play.
Freshman
Emma Christiano scored seven points and added four assists to lead the Cowgirls on Saturday while
Maiah Rivas added six points.
Aja Scott and
Vanessa Herrera each grabbed four rebounds to pace NMHU.
NMHU returns to Las Vegas to host MSU-Denver next Friday and nationally ranked Colorado Mines on Saturday. Both games are scheduled for 5:00 pm starts.
