Las Vegas, New Mexico - The Cowgirls lost their conference home opener on Friday afternoon 3-0 to visiting Fort Lewis. NMHU is now 2-6-1 overall and 0-3-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
The two teams battled to a scoreless tie in the opening half that saw the Cowgirls pressure the Skyhawks for much of the play and out shoot the visitors 5-2.
The first fifteen minutes of the second half was much like the first with the two teams playing back and forth. Fort Lewis broke the scoring drought in the match's 60th minute, they would add two more goals over the next 15 minutes to secure the margin of victory.
Shots on goal ended up tied 7-7 for the match.
Up next, the Cowgirls will play back-to-back home matches for the first time this season as they welcome Western Colorado to Las Vegas on Sunday. Match time is 1:00 pm.
