Las Vegas, New Mexico - NMHU tallied a goal in the 86th minute of play Sunday afternoon to secure a 1-1 draw with Western Colorado. The Cowgirls are now 2-6-2 overall and 0-3-1 in conference play.
Isavel Glenn put NMHU on the board on an assist from
Renee Johnson at the 86:47 mark of the match. That goal was the culmination of pressure by the Cowgirl's offense as the match wound down on Sunday afternoon. And it was a strong answer to the Mountaineers' goal fourteen minutes earlier.
The Cowgirls out-shot WCU 11-5 in the match.
Peyton Greener made four saves for the Cowgirls.
"Today, we had a great battle with Western Colorado. It goes to show that if we continue to work together and push hard we can have a lot of success," said NMHU Head Coach
Amanda Evans. "It was nice to see our players come back strong after being scored on. We're proud of the progress that they're making this season."
The Cowgirls return to action on Friday night when they play Black Hills State in Spearfish, South Dakota. Match time is 7:00 pm.
